The Suzuki School
is a SACS accredited preparatory school for preschool students with
two campuses located in Buckhead, in the heart of
Atlanta. Founded in 1976, it was modeled after the
highly successful Talent Education Institute in
Japan. It is the first school in the United States
to offer a comprehensive educational program based
on the
Suzuki Philosophy.
The central location makes it easily accessible to
the entire metropolitan area and allows Suzuki to
offer the cultural opportunities available in the
city while maintaining the advantages of a home-like
environment to maximize each child's learning
experience.
The Suzuki Program starts at infancy (as early as
three months of age) and progresses through an
accredited Kindergarten. Many of our students, upon
graduation, are accepted into one or more of the
exclusive private schools in Atlanta. However, we
recognize that there is a good school for every
child and our goal is to equip each with the
necessary skills for success in any future academic
environment.

The Suzuki philosophy
states that cognitive stimulation should begin at
infancy because we recognize that learning begins at
birth - music, art, sensory experiences, language
acquisition – all are incredibly important in the
first year of life in building self-esteem an
environment rich in activities and experiences to
encourage emerging development in all areas of
growth. Each child is afforded an opportunity to
interact in consistently novel ways with the
environment, peers and adults. During the admissions
process we provide parents with the curriculum
objectives for each age group. The comprehensive
curriculum is presented and reinforced throughout
the day.
The Suzuki enrichment programs are carefully
structured to instill a love of learning that will
last a lifetime. We offer foreign language
instruction (French or Spanish), music, arts,
special visitors through out the school year, and a
variety of community events.
This website has been developed to provide an
overview of our school and our classrooms and to
provide information on the Suzuki Method of Teaching
and an understanding of our philosophy. The Suzuki
methodology of teaching incorporates the effective
instructional practices developed by Dr. Suzuki (e.g.
repetition, praise and reinforcement)
and is supplemented by child-directed learning
approaches (similar
to the practices of Reggio and Montessori)
to encourage creativity and provide the most
stimulating and enjoyable academic environment.

The history
of our schools is one rich in growth and promise,
and encompasses a wonderful community of parents and
children – in fact, we now have Suzuki parents who
were once children at our school! Since our
inception in 1976, the development of the school has
been an ongoing labor of love, exploration and
innovation. As the only Suzuki preschool in the
United States, we are defined by and carefully
preserve Dr. Suzuki’s time-tested principles in the
best ways of educating the very young. |
